These open ended zips are perfect for when you want your garment to separate at the opening, but you don’t want a chunky look.
These coil type zips are also what you’ll want to use if you need a zip of different length than those readily available, as they can be shortened. The best way to do this is by carefully easing open the prongs of the stoppers with an awl, removing them and repositioning at the require length, using a pair of long nose or bent nose tweezers to gently close the prongs – make sure the prongs are bent properly so they don’t catch on the fabric or your skin! You might want to remove the excess coil above the stopper, but be warned – this is fiddly – make sure you practice on a spare zip!
